BioBorn and raised in East Central Alberta on a family farm, Kirk Anderson has been actively involved with equine since his Father gave him a colt for a birthday present. His keen interest eventually led to the start his equine career after completing Farrier training in 2001 at the Oklahoma School of Horse Shoeing. This allowed Kirk to serve the needs of a multitude of clients across Western Canada ranging from [insert equine comparison here]. It was during this time when Kirk noticed that equine dentistry needs were growing and such services were often under represented. Driven by an innate curiosity and desire to learn more, he began training at the Equine Gnathological Training Institute under the direction of Dale Jeffrey and Bert Lambert, modern dentistry pioneers and experts in the field. As it has been with Kirks overall approach as a farrier, equine dental health centers on the simple philosophy of common sense. Common sense dictates that all horses’ teeth be properly maintained (Oral Biomechanics and Dental Equilibration in Equiade, Dale Jeffery M/EqD). Three factors combine to help achieve proper equine dental maintenance: genetic, nutrition and environment. With these factors in mind, Kirk’s dentistry practice can be summarized as the focus of maintaining normal battery and arcade crown height and table angles that complement individual biomechanical actions of the bony joints and related issues of the head (Equine Dental Paradigm – Oral Health in Equidade). |
